Jeremy Camp – This Man

The following video features the hit "This Man" by Jeremy Camp with video from The Passion Of The Christ.

Most would agree that this is one of the most moving and one of the most original songs that we have seen out of Jeremy Camp.

It is also one of the most popular. In fact, the YouTube video featured below has been seen almost a million times.

The reality is that there are simply not enough songs out there these days about the sacrifice that Christ made.

It is hard these days to tell that most "contemporary Christian" songs are even Christian. Many of these artists are so eager to have "crossover" appeal that they are willing to water the message down to almost nothing.

Fortunately there are still some songs out there like this.....

Kerry Livgren – The Fury

Posted below is a fan video for the Kerry Livgren classic entitled "The Fury".

This little known song is one of the very best Christian rock songs about the book of Revelation and the end times.

It is odd that Kerry Livgren was never fully embraced by the contemporary Christian music community. Considering the secular success that he had experienced with the band Kansas, you would have thought that the Christian rock world would have an arena where Livgren would have had more of an impact.

After all, the music that he made with AD bordered on brilliant at times. It was certainly a cut above what most other Christian bands were churning out at the time.

Check out this video and let us know what you think.....

Ultimately, Livgren experienced a very uneven career in the world of Christian music and his future in the industry is very uncertain at this point.....

Still, if you are looking for some classic Christian rock that is really extraordinary, you might want to add some of Kerry Livgren's work to your collection.

Hillsong – Glory To The King

No discussion of top Christian music songs is complete without mentioning Hillsong.

Arising out of Hillsong Church in Australia, the Hillsong praise and worship brand has become the dominant praise and worship brand in the world. In recent years much of the praise and worship music out there has become stale, formulaic and self-indulgent, and that is one reason why putting on a Hillsong CD is such a breath of fresh air.

Most importantly, a true passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ comes through in most of their songs, and that is the most important thing.

The following video is of one of their oldies entitled "Glory To The King" (words and music by Darlene Zschech), from Hillsong's album, "All Things Are Possible".....

Allies – Voice Of The Spirit

A lot of Christian music fans don't even realize that Bob Carlisle was in a successful Christian rock band long before he ever launched his solo career.

That group was called "Allies", and they released 6 albums between 1985 and 1992. The video below is of their single entitled "Voice Of The Spirit" off of the 1987 "Shoulder To Shoulder" album.

Allies did have moments of near greatness, and this song represents one of those moments. Unfortunately, the band was plagued by creative inconsistency, and sometimes even Carlisle's soaring vocals were not enough to lift their albums to commercial success.

But even today Allies still has a committed following. The band had so much promise, and there were moments, such as "Harmony" off of their second album "Virtues" in 1986 that had many fans begging for more.

This could have been one of the truly legendary Christian bands. So why weren't they? Perhaps it was bad breaks, not enough marketing, not enough connections, uneven songwriting.....who can say?

But the truth is that if you love classic Christian rock from the 1980s, then you will find something in the Allies catalog of songs that will thrill you.

Check out this video and let us know what you think of Allies.....

Whiteheart – Maybe Today

Many Christian music fans of today have never even heard of Whiteheart, but the reality is that they are truly one of the most underrated Christian rock bands of all time.

The following video is of Whiteheart performing their hit "Maybe Today" which is off of their "Don't Wait For The Movie" album.

This was the first album for lead singer Ric (who knows how to actually spell his name - he changed it on every album) Florian. He blended nicely with the group right away on this album, and that set the stage for some of their later successes.

The truth is that Whiteheart had some of the most technically proficient musicians in the Christian music industry at the time, and you can see a little of that reflected in this video.

"Maybe Today" was one of the best songs off of "Don't Wait For The Movie", but Whiteheart really caught their stride a couple of albums later on the critically acclaimed "Freedom" release.

Anyway, enjoy this video. It contains a message that is perhaps more timely today than it was then.....
